About the event
The summer season is a time to invite fire into our lives and an opportunity to burn away all that we have outgrown and all that no longer serves us. As the longest day of the year, the Summer Solstice is a fiery, fertile, exuberant, passionate time, when the earth’s loveliness just seems to go on and on. Energy wise the Summer Solstice is like the full moon; it is pregnant with possibility. At the Solstice the sun appears to stand still before it changes direction. We too stand still, pause, and take time to reflect. We have reached the top of a mountain and stop now to take in the view. We look back over the journey we have taken since the Winter Solstice and look ahead to the path that lead us into the darker half of the year.
The evening will include:
- A sunset gentle yoga flow (blocks and various options provided) to reap the benefits of movement for our bodies, minds, and souls (indoors).
- A guided meditation (yoga nidra) to nurture ourselves through deep rest and relaxation (indoors).
- Journaling and setting intentions around a bonfire (outdoors) with a refreshing herbal beverage.
This workshop will take place at the beautiful Schumacher Farm Park just north of Madison in Waunakee. Feel free to come early to wander the prairie trails and connect more with nature and the seasons.
Participants should bring their own yoga mat (if you don't have one, reach out as I may have one for you to borrow), water bottle, and any props (like a small pillow and/or blanket) to make yourself comfortable during the guided meditation.
